Hey Scully,
Have you found the "Joy that surpasses all understanding" yet? If so, please share your "hope" with us.
As far as the time limit for the hunt.... Typically it's 70 years but if you don't get a fair oportunity, there is a second chance round.
As far as the dejected kid without any eggs.... Thank goodness there are some kids willing to share theirs!
++++If "god" exists, he wouldn't make it so difficult to find him for someone who was sincerely searching for him++++
Is this based upon human standards of difficult or Gods?
I hear everything that you're saying Scully... there was a time that I would have Totally shared your perspective. My intent was not to be offensive. It was to say that I found something that is better, for me... something wonderful! I would love to share that with everyone but won't force it upon anyone.... I don't have THAT right any moreso than certain atheist have to condemn those that are looking for God.
It seems that more consideration is given to the people that have found peace though any other lifestyle than Christianity... It seems that that may be a latent effect of being misled by someone representing a false form of Christianity.... That's truly sad! But for those that have placed their hope any other form of spirituality, or lifestyle.... what hope does your future hold for you?

Agnostic/Atheist/Religion
by Free ini feel that since i have lost all faith in the society, i feel myself drifting further and further into more agnosticism / atheistic thinking.i am finding it harder every day to believe in a god or holy scripture.
i actually feel more at peace now not feeling like someone is watching me.
religion now rings a wicked song in my head that sings of control, power, money, greed, and endless seas of falsehood.

Coincidentally I posted a new thread at he same time.... here's that opening post.
P.S. I was agnostic for a long time after my JW upbringing... Decided to focus ALL energy towards getting a Doctorate in Psychology and MS in Sociology.... I Found NO answers there. Perhaps taking the time to reading a fellow atheist (C.S. Lewis') book "Mere Christianity" will help. I just mailed a copy to Mulan and would be more than happy to spend the money on another one, if you are really interested in answers.
The other thread:
Which child is wiser?
While starting a hunt for Easter eggs… one child runs to a big tree and finds nothing… then that child’s brother says, “Go look under that rock… I promise you’ll find one there!” Again, Nothing! The child throws down their basket and says, “I give up! I can’t find one…. I don’t even think there are any Easter Eggs!! You guys are wasting your time!!”
Another child has the same experience but just when he was about to give up, noticed that some of the other kids were smiling with baskets full of eggs! He starts searching again and actually finds some!
The WTS has told all of us lies and sent us looking for God in the wrong places…. Most of us agree that the WTS was not the ‘Truth”… Why then do we still look for the God that they told us about? Why are we so willing to give up when the God of their creation turns out Not to be there?
Look around you, All of creation screams it…. Your very eyes and ears take it in. Are you going to let these liars continue to fool you? Or is the reason for not believing in God that he cannot exist because his actions are not reasonable or loving to your personal standard of amazing wisdom and advanced intellect?
If you haven’t found God, maybe it’s because you haven’t looked in the right places, looked hard enough, or looked long enough. Please don’t give up! When you do finally discover the real Him, It’ll be worth everything that you ever did to find him.
And what the Heck? Even if you never can find him and you spent a fraction of your 70-or-so pitiful years, searching in vain, for hope on this Godless rock….. what difference does it make???? Get busy living or get busy dying… but please, don’t pull anyone else down into your hopelessness with you! -

There is an important difference in human's ability to reason and in their ability to develop an internal morality. Many creatures (with no need for an understanding of right and wrong) can perform and even practice some basic principles of cause and effect, logic, an even mathmatics. Two of the things that seperates us is our moral conscience and our desire to understand our "place" in the universe. Although science has a variety of terms to describe the absense of these traits in psychopaths, sociopaths, etc....My point is that, to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever developed even the most base of reasons for us to have developed this mental ability. This does not automatically say that since we don't know how we "got this way"... some entity must have put it in us... but that IS the best explanation that I've heard yet!

Contrary to the simplistic and prejudicial God that the WTS Society has created... The God that I know has the ability to show unfathomable love to ANYONE that truly loves Him. For those that never had a real chance to learn about his "free Gift".... isn't there supposed to be a resurrection of the righteous AND the unrighteous? AND>>> Look at how the Bible defines righteousness?????
I think any answer other than this... (e.i. applying human qualification towards other men) is no different that the practice taken by the WTS and by Satan's with his first charge! -

Questions for believers in God
by KW13 inwhat god do 'we' believe in?
i am a believer at the moment i think.... .
firstly we are directed away from questioning just how god came into existance - why?

Hey KW13.... Do You Have Children????
Did you ever have to take some action that broke your heart and may have seemed cruel to them. But it was an action that you knew would help them grow, and become better children.
For some of your "Why's" Perhaps there is some small insight into the Master plan (of a being whose intelligence we cannot EVEN imagine) found in this one simple scripture: 1 Peter 1:20 -

Active JWsDo JWs actually carry a "life saving" message?
by AuldSoul inaccording to the current dogma of jehovah's witnesses:.
those who hear and ignore the warning will be destroyedthose who do not hear might be spared (if jehovah so chooses)any who do not receive the mark in their foreheads (per ezekiel) will not be sparedany who are of responsible age (interpretted by jehovah) and are not baptized will not be sparedjehovah does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentancemore people are born every year than get baptized, adding to the death toll every year.
in case you doubt whether that statement is true, consider this:.

Hey Auldsoul... Nice Thread!
Perhaps this topic can find some application the next time a Dub knocks on the door.
"Good morning brother, I'm glad you came by! Are you out sharing the 'Good News" this morning?"
JW... probably answers yes in some way
"Well I'm curious, I've always heard that term "Good News", what exactly is the Good News?"
Have your scriptures ready and prepare to watch a JW with enough rope hang themselves.....
My point is:
There is no supportable "Good News" in the current field ministry work.
The qualifications of someone receiving the Good News negate the WTS stance.... for example, The baptism practices and timeline of modern day Dubs against the Biblical examples of Cornelius the Centurion, The Jailer after Paul and Silas' release, The Etheopian eunuch... Apollos the Alexandrite.
Hope this makes sense!!!! -

Absolutely!
So far, I have not heard a booming voice say that I should buy a new Jet... or that I should invest in annuities.
But I have heard his voice in other (less audible) ways. When I sincerely search for Him.... Reading his book... or listening to my conscience..... If you tune in and truly listen, he will respond.
Does everybody hear Him while reading the Bible. No, only those "with ears to hear" can.
Does God answer you during prayers? I don't know... Do you ever shut up long enough for him to get a word in? Meditating on Him, and His word can produce some amazing effects.
Some people might say that this is nothing more than a dietization of some internal dialog or emotion... i.e. (the personification of the good and evil entities within all of us) But has any psychiatrist, sociologist, or cultural anthropologist even come up with a practical theory on why we possess a conscience, in the first place.
Is it naive to believe in something as intangible as an invisible God? People that say so often create far more fanciful "invisible" explanations for the support of their ideas....... Anyone with eyes can see the handiwork of a higher power in all of the universe.
Until science can come up with a logical explanation for how something as "simple" an ant can exist and function, I'll take my chances elsewhere..... and continue to search for, and listen to, Him -

You're an eloquint writer... even somewhat peotic!
Have you considered expressing your feelings in a letter... they're kinda' hard to interupt, provide enough time to gather your thoughts, and something about reading helps to "sink" ideas in deeper than just listening.
As far as "who he is" to you.... sounds like you already know the answer to that question.
I feel your pain,
